Summer Arrives (Finally!)

We love June here at Country Cousins and apparently so do our students.

“Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!”

It’s becoming rarer and rarer to hear a real life Town Crier making announcements for one and all to hear. Our students got up close to Ilfracombe’s very own Town Crier Mr Roy Goodwin at “The Big Lunch” event which took place on the town’s historic Fore Street where some of the buildings date back to the 13th Century.

The students got to hear all sorts of music ranging from traditional folk to modern pop all performed by local musicians on what was a beautiful sunny afternoon here in North Devon.

Life’s a beach (or two!)

Well it was for French student Maxime, who spent a fun day on the Harbour Beach in Ilfracombe walking his host families pet dog, before trecking all the way up Capstone Hill for a quick selfie overlooking the town.  He was then off to the beautiful Tunnels beach which were hand carved in 1820 and used extensively by Victorian society.  After a swim in the tidal pool that forms on Tunnels Beach it was then back home for a well earned meal with his host family.  Now that’s what we call an action packed day and is something that all our English language students from all over the world can expect to experience here at Country Cousins where our students are full immersed into the British way of life.

Saddle up and visit some amazing places.

Students from France and Italy put their English language skills to good use when issuing instructions to their mounts during a days riding at Dutchy College

Another student, Ines, had a more relaxed day visiting the wonderful National Trust maintained Arlington Court and its beautiful gardens. We think she might really be loving the more traditional English food, like scones and cream, although having them for breakfast is a less than traditional approach! Ines was also fortunate to spend an evening on Barricane beach where they serve the most amazing Sri Lankan curries.

Love your horse riding? Here at Country Cousins we use the British Horse Society accredited centre: Thinking Horses –  which offers top quality, disciplined instruction using horses and ponies that compete regularly with success in the show ring and the dressage arena. That’s a snapshot of some of what has been going on in June here at Country Cousins.

Things are set to get busier still as we have 185 new students arriving over the weekend so make sure that you follow our blog and also remember to check out our Facebook page at /CountryCousinsIlfracombe
