CHANNEL SCHOOL OF ENGLISH is located in Ilfracombe, a small seaside town on the North Devon coast in the South-West of England. It is an ideal place to learn English, offering a safe, clean and green environment for young people. Channel School of English offers accommodation with local host families where students share day-to-day family activities, giving a unique opportunity for involvement in a different culture and way of life.

Please have a look at this leaflet to see everything that Ilfracombe can offer to our students.

Channel School of English is situated in Bicclescombe Park (Ilfracombe town’s main public park); with BBQ area, children’s play area, landscaped gardens, lakes and tennis courts, which are used for our Tennis Programme and tennis tournaments.

Channel School of English is for students aged 7 to 17 years old.

Channel School has open WI-FI with an internet area where students can send emails home and have online chats to friends. Parental controls are in place and use of the internet is free.

Students can choose a course according to their required number of English academic hours. Courses at all levels are organised around a theme for each week. Students build up an integrated knowledge of vocabulary and grammar connected with these themes. The emphasis is on building students' confidence and ability in speaking English through discussion, role play, pronunciation and project work.

Other skills (reading, writing and listening) are included in lessons to support students' oral skills. Students are encouraged to involve their host families in their learning.

Each course is linked to an Activity Programme which provides fun and a wide range of interesting and appealing activities and excursions. Each session consists of three academic hours (3 x 60 minutes).
